Within the AARP Rewards catalog, you can redeem your rewards points or purchase select items at a discount with money, however, you can not mix points with money. The value depends on how you "spend" them, look under the redeem option to see what speaks to you:

• my value range for 1,000 points is between 18 cents and 56 cents if you pick gift cards that are of value to me
• If you try the sweepstakes/instant win route it depends on your luck, for me a 1,000 point gets you 3 cents.
